The Simple Partnership Agreement (SiPA) is a free, open-source resource that simplifies the process of forming partnerships. Designed to empower science entrepreneurs, SiPA helps you focus on what matters most: advancing your innovation.
With a funding grant from the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Activate researched the mechanics and common hurdles associated with early collaborations between startups and corporate partners. Based on that research, we worked with Partners at DLA Piper to design and pilot a new agreement framework to ease the friction and speed the path to partnership for both startups and corporates.

This material was developed by Activate along with independent consultant Chris Burk, and Activate’s founding CEO Ilan Gur. The videos are based on a course taught at Activate from 2015-2019. Burk created the models using his extensive experience consulting early-stage startups at Burk Engineering.
