Activate Fellows Ask Me Anything (AMA): Women Founders Forum

Are you wondering if the Activate Fellowship is right for you? This webinar will focus on women in entrepreneurship. Activate current and alumni panelists will share their experience through the application and selection process as well as their perspective as women founders in the Activate Fellowship.

Panelists

  • Cara Beasley (Cohort 2019): Cara Beasley is an expert in carbon materials, particularly single-walled carbon nanotube growth. As a process engineer at Applied Materials, she spent four years learning about the semiconductor industry and process tool development, while also continuing her work on new materials. Beasley holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Stanford University and a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

  • Ashley Beckwith (FORAY bioscience, Cohort 2022): Ashley Beckwith is the founder and CEO of FORAY bioscience, where she is reimagining the production of tree-sourced goods and materials. Beckwith holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from MIT. Her research and industry experience spans bioengineering, biomaterials, product design, and advanced manufacturing. Most recently, Beckwith has developed new methods for the net-shape production of customizable plant materials in vitro.

  • Yajing Zhao (Mesophase, Cohort 2022): Yajing Zhao is the founder and CEO of Mesophase, which seeks to enhance energy-efficiency via surface innovations. She holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is passionate about clean energy and has spent two years of research in power plant thermo-economic analysis and six years of research in condensation heat transfer. Zhao advocates for women’s empowerment and served as the executive co-chair of the MIT Mechanical Engineering Graduate Association of Women.
