Introducing Cohort 2024

We are thrilled to announce the acceptance of our largest cohort ever, with a record-breaking 62 new fellows representing 50 groundbreaking companies joining the Activate Fellowship. This year’s cohort is 24 percent women, and there has been a notable increase in founders of color since 2023, jumping from 43 to 52 percent.

Selected from a highly competitive pool of 1,040 applicants, the Cohort 2024 Fellows are pioneering innovations across critical sectors, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, and national security. Their cutting-edge technologies aim to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency, create sustainable industrial processes, and strengthen national security.

It is through the drive and determination of brilliant scientists and engineers that we are witnessing true progress,” says Activate CEO Cyrus Wadia. “Our current Activate Fellows and alumni are already pioneering innovative solutions that make a measurable difference. We’re thrilled to support the next 62 visionaries who will lead the charge in addressing our most urgent issues through groundbreaking science and technology.”

We’re excited to report that Cohort 2024 will join a community of Activate Fellows who have collectively raised over $2.3B in follow-on funding, demonstrating a nearly 38-fold return on investment for our fellowship support. Cohort 2024 also marks the debut of the first fellows in Activate's newest and fifth community in Houston, where Activate scientists will have an opportunity to bolster the city’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem.
